London Buses route 196 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Norwood Junction station and Elephant & Castle, it is operated by London General. ==History== Route 196 used to run from Tufnell Park Hotel to Waterloo. In 1950, this service, like most at the time, ran on weekdays only via London landmarks including King's Cross station, Euston station, Kingsway and Aldwych. The service replaced route 239 entirely and the northern section of route 68A between Kings Cross and Waterloo. The route at this point was operated by Chalk Farm garage which closed in 1993. In 1951 the route was extended to Norwood Junction and increased to a daily service (by that time the route also had commenced operating on Saturdays). An additional Sunday service was added, running on the new Waterloo - Norwood Junction section completely replacing route 68A. In 1958, the Sunday service ceased after route 40 had been partly extended from Camberwell Green to Norwood Junction. In 1971 the Tufnell Park to Euston section was replaced by route 239. while on 5 January 1974, route 196 ceased operating between Euston and Brixton. In February 1987, the route was tendered and awarded to Cityrama with Daimler Fleetlines. In October 1989 the contract passed to London & Country before moving to London General's Stockwell garage in April 1990. Upon being re-tendered, on 5 May 2001 the route passed to Connex who commenced operating the service with Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident 2s. Route 196 was included in the sale of Connex to Travel London in February 2004〔(National Express buys 200 London buses ) ''The Telegraph'' 27 February 2004.〕 Upon being re-tendered, in 2006 the route returned to London General's Stockwell garage with Alexander Dennis Enviro400s.〔(Bus tender results Route 196 ) Transport for London 12 August 2005〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「London Buses route 196」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
